Child Care Background Check Procedures
Rehabilitation reviews were performed by several entities prior to October 1, 2018, including the Department of Health Services (DHS), Department of Children and Families (DCF), tribes, counties and school boards. Effective October 1, 2018, DCF is responsible for conducting rehabilitation reviews required for licensure or certification or to reside or work in child care. Tribes, however, may choose to conduct rehabilitation reviews or refer the subject to DCF for the review. Tribes choosing to conduct rehabilitation reviews must first submit and obtain DCF approval of their plan for rehabilitation reviews.
