4.9.4 Fingerprint Scans Rejected

On rare occasions, a fingerprint scan may be rejected by the FBI because it didn’t provide a clear capture of the prints. If the print rejects, the CBU obtains the Transaction Control Rejection (TCR) code from the Wisconsin Online Record Check System (WORCS) or a TCN number from Fieldprint and asks the individual to get a second set of scanned prints at no cost to them. If the prints are rejected a second time, the CBU contacts the DOJ to request a name-based FBI check.
