4.9.3 Inked Fingerprints

The CBU no longer accepts ink fingerprint cards submitted directly to the CBU. If an individual attempting to schedule a Fieldprint® Livescan appointment cannot find a digital location within a 35 mile radius, Fieldprint services allow the individual to select and schedule an appointment at a nearby print card location. Similar to using the Fieldprint Livescan service, when an individual schedules an appointment to have their prints collected at an agency referred to by Fieldprint. After the individual schedules their appointment, Fieldprint mails a packet of information, including Fieldprint issued fingerprint cards and instructions to the individual. The individual brings the cards along with personal identification to the Fieldprint appointment. Fieldprint will electronically scan the physical cards and submit the prints along with the individuals’ personal information to WI DOJ for processing. The CBU receives the results via the system interface.

In rare cases when a digital or Fieldprint® fingerprint card is not feasible by law enforcement agencies, the department may authorize, inked fingerprints by other approved individuals. In some cases, there are individuals presented by providers with prior training who can complete ink fingerprints at a more convenient site.
