4.9 Obtaining Fingerprint Background Checks

As of October 1, 2018, the federal Child Care and Development Block Grant and 48.686 includes requirements for DCF to conduct background checks on individuals associated with a child care program. Under the new requirements, all caregiver and non-caregiver employees must undergo a DCF fingerprint background check initially and every five (5) years to be eligible to operate, work at, or reside in a child care center. It is the provider’s responsibility to ensure compliance with background check requirements.
