Child Care Background Check Procedures
If an IBIS result is identified, it will show at the bottom of the DOJ/IBIS results page in WISCCRS. When a name generates an IBIS hit, the CBU obtains more information regarding the following:
Circumstances of the denial or revocation, such as whether the licensee or certified operator, a household member, or an employee committed a barred offense that led to the denial or revocation.
Rehabilitation review decision, if any. It is possible for the person to have rehabilitation review approval that does not cover the program for which the person is currently seeking regulatory approval. It is also possible that the person who is barred is not the person whose license was denied or revoked (e.g., a household member or employee). In that case, it is necessary for the CBU to determine whether the bar is still a reason to prevent regulatory approval. The CBU may contact the DHS Office of Legal Counsel or DCF Office of Legal Counsel or a certification agency/tribe to obtain additional information regarding the rehabilitation review approval.
Reasons for professional credential license or certificate denial, revocation or inclusion on the Wisconsin Caregiver Misconduct Registry.
A copy of all information obtained through the credential or license search is uploaded to the Individual Documents section of WISCCRS.
