4.3.6.1 Ordinance Violations

Occasionally the DOJ criminal record results or CCAP record may indicate “non-criminal” after the charge or list an ordinance number that does not correspond to a statutory crime number. These designations relate to municipal or county ordinance violations that appear if the original arrest was reported to DOJ. Municipal citations not on the DOJ results can also be found in a CCAP search. Municipal and county ordinance violations are technically not criminal convictions and usually do not create a bar or substantial relationship under the background check law.
