Child Care Background Check Procedures
Section B.1. of the Background Check Request form requires that persons who have performed military service within the past three years attach a copy of their discharge papers DD214 when submitting the Background Check Request form. Veterans can obtain discharge information from the National Personnel Records Center through the Military Personnel Records website.
If the discharge was dishonorable, the CBU should attempt to obtain additional information regarding the nature and circumstances of the discharge by asking the individual for documentation. If the individual fails to provide the requested information, the application may be considered incomplete or the person is denied background check eligibility.
