Child Care Background Check Procedures
When an employee leaves a child care program or a household member moves out of the center, a residency or employment end date is entered in WISCCRS by the CBU, BECR staff or a certification worker (or by the provider in the CCPP) and the status is modified accordingly. A residency or employment end date that is in the past means the individual is no longer considered active in the program location. The individual may be added to the facility once again, in WISCCRS or CCPP by following the same steps described in Section 2.12.1.
If the individual returns to the child care facility after 180 days, the individual is required to complete and submit another Background Check Request form, even though the form has already been previously submitted. Because the gap in residency or employment has exceeded 180 days, the individual is required to complete another fingerprint background check. The Background Check Request form entry along with the updated residency start date will trigger another fingerprint instruction letter.
