Child Care Background Check Procedures

1.2 Programs Covered by the Background Check Law

Wis. Stat. § 48.686 defines a “regulated” child care program as follows:

• A child care center that is licensed under Wis. Stat. § 48.65;

• A license exempt public school program established or contracted for under Wis. Stat. § 120.13 (14) that receives Wisconsin Shares;

• A child care provider that is certified under Wis. Stat. § 48.651;

• A temporary employment agency that provides caregivers to another child care program.
