1.2 - Complainant Defined

The complainant is the person who actually makes the complaint. This may be a parent or other family member, a neighbor, program staff, member of the community or a representative of another agency such as a social service staff person, law enforcement personnel or a Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) consultant. The complainant may have first-hand knowledge of the allegation or may not. In the case of a self-report the certification worker can code the complainant information/source as “self-report”.
