DCF 202.08(2)(a) outlines requirements for exits. If helpful, a PowerPoint with images illustrating either compliance with exit requirements or violations is available on the Certification Sharepoint site and is used as part of New Certification Worker Training.
DCF 202.08(2)(am) and (ar) outlines requirements for carbon monoxide and smoke detectors.
DCF 202.08(2)(am)1. A one-unit or two-unit residential building shall have a functional carbon monoxide detector installed in the basement and on each level of the building, excluding the garage and attic, in accordance with the requirements of s. 101.647, Stats.
DCF 202.08 (2)(am)2. A residential building with at least 3 units shall have one or more functional carbon monoxide detectors installed in accordance with the requirements of s. 101.149, Stats.
Carbon monoxide detectors are required under 101.647 (a), Stats.:The owner of a dwelling shall install a functional carbon monoxide detector in the basement of the dwelling and on each floor level except the attic, garage, or storage area of each dwelling unit. A carbon monoxide detector wired to the dwelling's electrical wiring system shall have a backup battery power supply. Except as provided under par. (b), the occupant of the dwelling unit shall maintain any carbon monoxide detector in that unit. This paragraph does not apply to the owner of a dwelling that has no attached garage, no fireplace, and no fuel-burning appliances.
DCF 202.08(2)(ar) The home shall have a functional smoke detector on each floor level in accordance with the requirements of s. 101.645, Stats.
Certifiers with specific questions regarding a child care operator’s property/premise may contact the local county/municipal building inspection department or local fire department for guidance.
