1.2 - Sleeping

The operator shall ensure children have adult supervision at all times. A provider shall be awake whenever the children in care are awake. If children are enrolled in certified care during third shift, the provider may sleep as long as the children in care are asleep in safe and secure sleeping arrangements that meet certification standards. The sleeping children must be within sight or sound so the provider can respond to children who awaken or are in need. Electronic listening devices / monitors may be used for supervising sleeping children. Considerations should be given to the quality of the device, proximity and accessibility of the provider and noise levels that may interfere with the provider’s ability to hear.
