Child Care Certification Policy Manual
In accordance with DCF 202.04(3)(b)3, certification agencies shall provide to prospective applicants prior to initial certification a copy of the applicable requirements of this chapter and information on child care certification, including information on all of the following:
Pre-service training requirements
Reducing the incidence of sudden infant death syndrome
Preventing shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma
Child development, positive child guidance, and health and safety, including pediatric first-aid and nutrition
The child care subsidy program
The child care quality rating and improvement system
Until such time that DCF 202.08(1)(b) Training can be updated to include the federal requirement for training in pediatric first aid, it is imperative certifiers provide in their orientation materials information pertaining to pediatric first aid.
