Wisconsin Department of Children and Families - Division of Early Care and Education
Bureau of Early Care Regulation
Child Care Certification Policy Manual
If the applicant is granted certification to care for children under five (5) years of age, the certification worker will need to document AHT/SBS completion in WISCCRS by entering the date the AHT/SBS training was completed. WISCCRS also allows the certification worker to upload the training certificate or other documentation as evidence the training was completed. Effective 4/1/18 all pre-service training must be uploaded into WISCCRS. See the WISCCRS User Guide – Documents for more information.
Prior to the Online AHT Prevention Training for Child Care Providers, applicants for certification or other providers were allowed to complete an SBS/AHT pre-training requirement independently, certifiers may have chosen to use the Continuing Education Record – Independent Reading / Video Viewing form to document the individual’s review of the AHT/SBS materials.
Note: When entering the Introduction to the Child Care Profession or Principles of Child Care Certification training course in WISCCRS, the certification worker also will need to enter the AHT/SBS training separately, even if the Introduction to the Child Care Profession course was completed after July 1, 2005. This is because the system is not programmed to determine whether or not the course also meets AHT/SBS requirement, based on year it was completed. There is not a validation between entry-level training (Introduction to Child Care Profession or Principles of Child Care Certification) entered and ages served in WISCCRS. Because of this a certification worker will be required to enter the Introduction course and AHT/SBS training separately in WISCCRS in order to enter ages served less than age 5.
If the provider completed the online WI Registry AHT Training, verification of documentation can be found in the following places:

Current WI Registry members can view/download their Learning Record. AHT training is verified under ‘Degrees, Certificates and Credentials.’
Staff with access to a Program Profile can view the Licensing Learning Record within the Staff List report for employees with a current Registry membership.
If Registry membership is not current, view verified AHT training under the Licensing section of the Education tab in the personal profile
If Registry membership is not current, view verified AHT training on the Training tab in the personal profile
For more information on how to verify online AHT completion, review the AHT FAQs and the Wisconsin Registry’s AHT Verification Guide.
