3.5 SBS/AHT Information Provided to Parents by Hospitals / Physicians

The Prevent Violence Against Children Act requires that hospitals provide information to parents of newborn infants written materials on Shaken Baby Syndrome and inform parents of the availability of the audiovisual materials on SBS. The Act also requires that for infants born elsewhere that within 7 days after the birth of an infant, the attending physician, nurse, midwife or trained birth attendant provide to parents of the infant the written materials on SBS and inform those parents of the availability of the audiovisual materials. An applicant / provider attesting to his / her completion of a training provided by a hospital or physician does not meet the requirements for child care certification. See the 2005 Wisconsin Act 165.
