Child Care Certification Policy Manual
Although high schools offer SBS prevention information as part of their general health classes and in their early childhood coursework, the information included in the health class does not meet the requirement for child care certification.
The approved SBS prevention training is included, however, in the early childhood course, called Assistant Child Care Teacher (ACCT) that results in a certificate issued by DPI. The course is scheduled to incorporate Abusive Head Trauma (AHT) prevention training by 9/1/20. See section 4.4. in this module for more information regarding the ACCT course.
Note: This Assistant Child Care Teacher (ACCT) course is equivalent to the Introduction to the Child Care Profession course. See section 4.4 in this module for more information regarding the ACCT course.
