3.1 Approved AHT/SBS Trainers

Individuals may use The Wisconsin Registry website to search for AHT/SBS in-person training. Users can conduct a search using “Keyword Search” or search a list of training opportunities in specific regions of the state by clicking on the regional map.

Certification workers may choose to become an approved AHT/SBS Trainer by attending an AHT/SBS Train-the-Trainer session. Use the Keyword Search to find an AHT/SBS Train-the-Trainer session. At the conclusion of the session the agency providing the Train-the-Trainer curriculum forwards the names of all persons trained to DCF. DCF will then update the list of approved SBS trainers. The Train-the-Trainer sessions are usually offered through Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies.

Department-approved AHT Prevention trainers may offer virtual AHT Prevention Training. The virtual training mirrors the in-person training using a format that includes audio/visual and an ability for trainees to participate and engage in conversation with the trainer. To find an upcoming in-person or virtual AHT Prevention Training, visit the Wisconsin Registry.

Trainers approved by DCF to provide AHT/SBS training are asked to keep lists of individuals they have trained. A list of approved AHT/SBS Trainers can be found on the Child Care Information Center’s website.

In order to make AHT/SBS completion certificates less susceptible to falsification, the department has asked all approved trainers include the following information on the completion certificate:

In October 2020, the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board and DCF developed an online AHT Prevention Training for Child Care Providers. The online training is free, takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete and results in a certificate of completion. Instructions for completing the training and a link to the online training are available on the department’s AHT Prevention Training for Child Care Providers web page.
