Foster families throughout Wisconsin play an important role in the lives of children who need a temporary home, providing care and guidance for them. In recognition of Gov. Scott Walker’s proclamation declaring May as Foster Care Month in Wisconsin, First Lady Tonette Walker and Department of Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Eloise Anderson will be recognizing foster families and a foster youth who have made outstanding contributions to children in foster care with the 2017 Governor’s Foster Care Award. The award ceremony, to be held at the Wisconsin State Capital on May 16, 2017, will highlight the special commitment of foster parents who have guided and cared for children through difficult times. The event will also celebrate the incredible accomplishments of foster youth who are examples of the bright future possible for foster children across the state. Please submit a nomination for a deserving Foster Family or Foster Youth by Monday, April 10, 2017. For more information, contact DCF Communications.
