Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

TANF is the federal block grant program that provides states with the authority and funding to create programs that provide time-limited assistance to needy families with children and promote work. 

  • Wisconsin Works (W-2)
    Wisconsin's TANF block grant program for families with dependent children that replaced the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program. Statistics include monthly case and participant counts by W-2 Agency and the State (1999-current).
  • TANF Child Only Cases
    Information includes monthly state-level case counts for the Kinship Care and Caretaker Supplement programs (1999-current).
