Rationale for Reasonable Suspicion of Program Violation:
The Department of Children and Families revoked the license of this child care program on May 29, 2009 as a result of violations of the Wisconsin Shares program identified by the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services. The Provider's license revocation is currently under appeal.
The Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services (MCDHHS) notified the Department by a letter dated May 27, 2009, that Gee Gee's Playhouse's privilege to participate in the Wisconsin Shares program was suspended for six months effective June 13, 2009 and that an overpayment recoupment was being sought. These actions were taken by the MCDHHS due to the results of their audit, in which they determined that the provider submitted hours for payment that reflected attendance for children that was contrary to the parents' approved activities for child care and not on her sign in/sign out sheets.
In addition, the county determined that attendance records were inaccurate and reflected that the provider was caring for more children than her license allowed. Attendance records provided to MCDHHS indicated that the center operated over the licensed capacity 72 out of the 117 days reviewed. During the review period, attendance records indicate that she was caring for 10 or more children (for at least an hour) on a minimum of 51 occasions and that she provided care on weekend dates for which she is not licensed.
