Secretary Anderson Appoints Fredi-Ellen Bove Administrator of DCF's Division of Safety and Permanence
MADISON –Department of Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Eloise Anderson today announced the appointment of Fredi-Ellen Bove as Administrator of the Division of Safety and Permanence. In her new role, Bove will lead the Department's efforts to provide safe, loving, and permanent homes for children.
"Fredi brings dedication, passion, and experience to lead the critical work of supporting children and parents throughout the state," said Secretary Anderson. "Fredi has more than 20 years in budget, policy, and social service programs at the state level which will be a tremendous asset to our leadership team."
Since 1994 Fredi has worked at the Department of Health Services where she held several positions managing programs to improve the lives of children and families. Since 2007, she has served as the Deputy Administrator of the Division of Long Term Care. In this position, Fredi managed a $3.3 billion budget and supported the expansion of the Family Care long term care program designed to increase the quality of life and independence for elders and people with disabilities. From 2004-2007, Fredi was the Director of the Office of Strategic Finance where she was responsible for budget and policy development. She was also the Department's Budget Director from 1994-2004 where she developed budget initiatives related to children and families, including the Milwaukee child welfare system.
Fredi began her state service as the Executive Assistant to the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. She also previously worked in the federal government for the U.S. Department of State. Her dedication to families extends beyond the workplace. Fredi currently serves as Board Vice President for the Rainbow Project where she has volunteered for more than 20 years.
Bove will begin this position on Monday, March 7, 2011.
