Supervisor Resources
This section of our website contains resources intended to help you in your day to day supervisory responsibilities. First in this section is Training Courses and the W-2 Staff Assessment. To help you find the rest of the supervisor resources, we’ve divided the page into categories of Web Sites, Books, and Articles.
Training Courses
Currently, our selection for supervisors includes policy and process training, enhanced case management courses, and two hour short courses. The PTS Learning Center contains detailed information about each of our training courses, including a schedule for classroom training.
There are many ways to find what you need on Learning Center. However, if you want to see everything we have to offer, we recommend that you choose Training Catalog from the Learning Center home page, then click on DWD-TANF/WIA, and then choose All DWD-TANF/WIA courses from the drop down menu. This will give you a list of everything we have. You can then sort this list by Course Name or Delivery Method.
At this time, we don’t have any two hour short courses scheduled. However, if you see a short course you’d like offered, be sure and let us know by filling out our On Site Class Request form.
For those of you who want to stay close to home, check out some of our distance offerings, including WISDOM WebIntelligence Training – designed to help you learn the basics of WebI 6.5.1!
W-2 Staff Assessment
NOTE: The W-2 Staff Assessment materials are
being updated and are currently unavailable.
Check the monthly PTS Training Times for updates on when these
materials will be available again.
The W-2 Staff Assessment document is used to identify the knowledge and skills needed by W-2 staff. You may choose to use it to develop a comprehensive technical knowledge assessment for your staff. The third section of the document provides supplementary resource materials for you and your staff.
The staff assessment tools in this document can:
- Assess and foster building skill and knowledge in all W-2 staff
- Address a need expressed by local agencies on how to assess staff
- Raise awareness on what resources are available to increase staff development
- Be adapted to meet specific, local training needs
Quotations from agencies and staff may best provide the answers as to why to use these assessment tools.
“Good way to look at new ways to handle cases."
"Addresses inconsistencies of knowledge and application among workers."
“Group work on questions stimulate good discussion among staff."
“Completing the assessment provided some uniformity to agency W-2 concepts, practices, and ideas."
