Determine Training Needs
The W-2 Staff Assessment document is used to identify the knowledge and skills needed by W-2 staff. You may choose to use it to develop a comprehensive technical knowledge assessment for your staff. The third section of the document provides supplementary resource materials for you and your staff.
W-2 Functions
Curriculums may be assigned through the Learning Center to access the appropriate training by function.

Introduction to W-2 Policy and Processes
Introductory courses are available for individuals who are new to W-2 or need basic training related to W-2. All courses are offered via distance.

These courses cover work programs policies and process beginning after initial W-2 placement. Ongoing activities , non-participation, case changes, two parent household, and job loss and retention are all included. All courses are offered online and utilize a multiple methodologies.

Enhanced Case Management
The annual training requirements for W-2 related staff includes ECM courses. These courses were designed to ensure that experienced workers continue to develop their problem solving expertise. In W-2 Case Management effective problem solving means:
- Assigning appropriate activities,
- Fostering early and successful attachment to the workforce, and
- Being sensitive to the needs and issues that surround the families who participate in workforce development programs.
PTS provides an extensive curriculum of programs in Enhanced Case Management. The courses are divided into three general categories:
- The Programmatic area addresses specific job functions in W-2 and effective partnering with the program participant to make an early and successful attachment to the workforce.
- The Interpersonal area addresses the range of skills designed to assist W-2 staff in becoming more effective in the communication partnership that is key to solving problems.
- The Special Needs area provides the worker with the ability to identify participants who face special challenges in participating in the workforce. Along with awareness, these curricula also address appropriate referral to community resources and strategies for providing program support.
Enhanced Case Management is offered on an ongoing basis at various locations throughout the state. If you need to request equivalency, go to the Supervisor's Enhanced Case Management page.

Supervisors
Supervisors and lead staff within TANF/W-2 and Child Care agencies represent an audience with additional training needs related to supervisory skills. The Partner Training Section strives to provide ongoing and varying supervisory skills improvement resources, including:
- Specific training opportunities for supervisors,
- Recommendations for appropriate skill enhancing literature to access, and
- Internet resources relevant to the development of supervisory skills.

Child Care
Child Care training is offered throughout the year for both child care eligibility and CSAW. Access the Training Catalog in Learning Center for these courses.
