New Worker Training independent agency approval process
W-2 may request approval to provide New Worker Training within the agency using qualified trainers and the DCF approved curriculum. This approval allows the agency staff to conduct W-2 New Worker Training that is equivalent to training provided by the Partner Training Section and meets minimum training requirements for New Worker Training.
Plan Submission
Each agency requesting approval is required to submit a plan for review and approval for each calendar year in which the agency intends to provide independent training.
Each December/January a new plan must be submitted. If the agency completed a plan in August and received approval, that plan would be in effect through the remainder of that calendar year. If the agency submitted a plan in January and received approval, that plan would also remain in effect through the calendar year. The new plan is always due at the beginning of a new calendar year for that year.
This plan must include, at a minimum, the agency's proposal to provide New Worker Training independently, identification of the trainer with qualifications, and the process that will be used upon approval. Further guidelines and requirements for plan development may be found in DWD 17 and Administrator's Memo 05-09.
After submitting the plan to the appropriate New Worker Training Operations Lead/Coordinator, the agency will receive a letter with approval or denial. Approvals will contain further instructions as needed for the agency to access NWT materials and to perform NWT independently.
Plans must be submitted to the appropriate contact person as listed below. If the agency will be providing both TANF and IM training, a plan must be submitted to each contact - TANF to Lynda Fischer and IM to Melissa Wilson.
In addition to the yearly plan, agencies must submit a training calendar to the appropriate contact person before beginning each series of New Worker Training. This calendar/schedule of training dates is also subject to approval.
Evaluation
Agencies involved in training W-2 may be evaluated as needed and as DCF resources allow. If your agency will be evaluated, you will be contacted to schedule evaluation times and dates that coincide with your training calendar. The evaluation will include an interview with new workers as well as observations of training classes.
