Re: Standby Guardian

1997 Wisconsin Act 334 recently created provisions for a parent to designate or a court to appoint a standby guardian for a child. A standby guardian has the duty and authority to make important decisions in matters having a permanent effect on the life and development of a child upon the incapacity, death or debilitation and consent of the parent.

Act 334 includes procedures for the appointment or designation of a standby guardian for a child and a process for a court to rescind the guardianship, the parent to revoke the designation or the standby guardian to renounce the designation. A copy of Act 334 is attached for your information.
