Fostering Our Future
Bradd and Sarah Rusch from Clinton, WI
Bradd and Sarah Rusch are foster parents who challenge their children to achieve their fullest potential no matter their previous difficulties. Their ability to help the children with any behavior issues and meet their needs is remarkable.
For almost four years, Bradd and Sarah have fostered a young child who had been neglected. When he was first placed in their home, it was a struggle because he trusted no one and acted out. Through Bradd and Sarah's dedication to him including very structured, consistent discipline and therapy, he has learned that they truly love him and aren't going anywhere.
Bradd and Sarah know how important it is for siblings to be together, so they also opened their home to their foster son's sister a couple of years ago. They knew the struggles that they would face but they knew it was more important that the children be together.
Bradd and Sarah understand to provide the best possible care for their children that must take care of themselves too. But even during a short vacation, there foster son was on their minds. Bradd and Sarah e-mailed to ask his caseworker to let him know that they loved and missed him. For the first time in this young man's life, he was confident that someone was coming back for him.
Bradd and Sarah Rusch were recognized as one of the recipients of the 2010 Governor's Foster Care Award on May 18.
