Fostering Our Future
Mr. and Mrs. Kuehn
According to Waushara County foster care coordinator Colleen Rogalski, the Kuehns are the "go to" home for the county. Debbie and Jerry Kuehn have provided care for the foster children of Waukesha and Waushara Counties for the last 16 years. Since becoming foster parents they have had approximately 100 children come into their home ranging in duration from short-term respite to long-term foster care placement.
They have opened their home to sibling groups of three or more and have incredible skills in working with children with severe medical and behavioral needs. It is not uncommon for the Kuehn's to drive several hours for medical treatment for a child in their home.
Debbie has done trainings throughout the state on working with children that have been sexually abused. She is also often the brains behind activities, parties, and gatherings for other foster families. The Kuehns were one of the recipients of the 2009 Governor's Foster Care awards.
