Fostering Our Future

Scott and Paulette Drankiewicz

Scott and Paulette Drankiewicz from Milwaukee, WI

Both foster parents and children need on going support. Known as the "foster care ambassadors" in the Milwaukee community, Scott and Paulette Drankiewicz consistently go above and beyond to advocate and support foster parents and children.

In addition to being foster parents, Scott and Paulette have adopted four special needs children and will most likely be finalizing a fifth adoption soon. They provide each of their children with special attention and understand the value of keeping a connection to the children's birth family.

Giving special attention to each child takes a lot of multitasking but Scott and Paulette have a unique ability to know what is going on with each child at all times. Paulette will be changing a diaper, giving another child a time out, while showing another child affection all at the same time! They give love and attention to each child in their care so that the child knows how much they are loved.

Furthermore, Scott and Paulette show empathy to birth parents' situations and demonstrate this to other foster parents. Maintaining these family links is important to the children so they form appropriate, positive relationships with birth parents, extended families, and siblings.

Scott and Paulette received the 2010 Governor's Foster Care Award for their outstanding commitment to foster children and families in Milwaukee County.
