Fostering Our Future

Fred and Toni Chambers

Fred and Toni have provided each child who has entered their home with an opportunity to experience feelings of safety, stability, acceptance and love, but they are very modest about their unyielding compassion. As John Bretl, a social worker with St. Croix Family and Children's Services noted in his nomination of the Chambers for the 2009 Foster Care Awards, "The Chambers have never sought recognition and instead, they quietly reach out with kind and generous hearts."

The Chambers have been foster parents since 2004, and throughout the last five years, they have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the children that have been placed in their care. Fred and Toni consistently go above and beyond what is expected to meet the needs of their foster children, actively and respectfully seeking solutions to improve the foster care system.

In addition to her responsibilities as a foster parent, Toni is involved in other activities that support fostering. She provides training for the Western Wisconsin Partnership and serves on several State committees, including the Foster Care Training Committee and the Foster Parent Handbook Committee. The Chambers were one of the recipients of the 2009 Governor's Foster Care awards.
