Role of Department
Department of Children and Families staff develop and issue
policies and procedures for the use of the funds, provide technical
assistance and consultation on the development of program and evaluation
practices, and issue and monitor contracts to counties, tribes and the
Department of Corrections/Division of Juvenile Corrections. Approximately
350 youth leave care every year because they turned age 18. In
addition, about 4,000 youth currently in or exiting care are eligible to receive services
at any time. Under the current federal law, Wisconsin will receive
approximately $1.9 million for independent living services and $660,000
for Education and Training Voucher Program services annually to provide services to these youth.
