How Do I Renew My Child Care Certification in Milwaukee County?
- 4C Certification, the contracted agency for Milwaukee Early Care Administration, contacts you six (6) months prior to the expiration date of their current certification about the recertification process.
- You must attend the Recertification Orientation-Part A at the Milwaukee Early Care Learning Lab located at 819 N. 6th Street-Room 670, Milwaukee, WI. You must bring the Recertification letter and a photo identification to the recertification orientation. Part A of the orientation process consists of a computerized program entitled "What It Means to Be a Child Care Provider." The computer program presents information to the provider with questions to answer after each topic. If you have any questions please call 414-220-6828.
- Upon completion of Part A, you must attend the Recertification Orientation-Part B, which is held every week at 819 N. 6th Street-Room 670, Milwaukee, WI. At this session you will receive their application packet. The entire process lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours.
- The Recertification letter needs to be stamped for Part A and B and submitted with your application.
- Complete the application and other required forms. You may either mail the application or bring it along with the required $158 application processing fee in the form of a Money Order or Cashier’s Check made out to Wisconsin Department of Children and Families to:

Milwaukee, WI 53203 - A Milwaukee Early Care Administration Child Care Specialist will contact you to set up an appointment to inspect your home for health and safety compliance. This home visit occurs after the background checks have been completed for every individual age 12 years or older living and working in the child care home.
Milwaukee Early Care Administration makes a final decision to approve or deny a new recertification application. You will be notified by Milwaukee Early Care Administration in writing of their decision.
