Directions for Navigating the

Licensed Child Care Search

Here's how to locate licensed child care centers in your area:

Begin by entering the type of center (group child care, family child care or day camp), the county, and the zip code or city. You can also enter the name of the child care center you are interested in viewing. When searching for a center in Madison or Milwaukee, enter the zip code and city to narrow and speed your search.  All * items are required fields.

Once this information is entered, a map will display the locations of all licensed child care centers in the search area.  Using your mouse pointer, hover over a balloon and the center name and address will appear.

The facility identification number (ID Number) identified for each child care center will link you to that center's licensing information and regulatory history. Here you will find information on the center such as date of initial license, age range of children served, licensed days and hours, and capacity. You can also view the center's regulatory history, including cited violations and enforcement actions, if any.

Licensed Child Care Search displays the center's regulatory history over the previous two years.  To understand how a regulatory history is established, we strongly recommend that you refer to Frequently Asked Questions about Child Care Search when reviewing the child care information. We also urge you to contact the child care center directly to find out more about the center's program and regulatory history. If you have questions about any of the information displayed on Licensed Child Care Search, you may contact the regional licensing office, in your area.
