Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare
Foster Care and Adoption in Milwaukee County

The Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare needs quality foster and adoptive families that can meet the individual needs of the children we serve. Integrated Family Services/St. Aemilian-Lakeside and Children's Service Society of Wisconsin  partners with BMCW to recruit and license foster and adoptive parents.

BMCW has about 2,000 children in foster care on any given day. Most children return to their family of origin, but some need adoptive "forever" families. In 2010, 275 children were adopted from the foster care system. Of these, 41 were adopted by relatives. BMCW requires all potential adoptive parents to be licensed as foster parents.
