Child Support & Aid/Benefit Programs

Information for:

When applying for benefits or services from these aid/benefit program, families automatically get child support services. These families must cooperate with their child support agency in order to get the benefits and services from their aid/benefit program. Some of the support paid to families getting cash benefits will be used to pay for the benefits they receive.

New in 2010

  • If you are getting cash benefits from the W-2 and SSI Caretaker Supplement programs, you get 75% of the child support paid. Your increased share started on October 1, 2010.
  • When you no longer get cash benefits from the W-2 program, you get all assigned past-due child support that is paid. This change started April 2010.

Remember - you no longer sign over any past-due support owed to you before you signed up for cash benefits from the W-2 and Caretaker Supplement programs. That money will always be owed to you.
