Support Services

Case management services

Case Management (child support) Services are available to both parents and to legal guardians.

If a parent applies for case management services, both parents get case management services. However if the court changes the child's primary placement, the parent with the new primary placement order will need to apply for services and may need to pay the application fee.

In Wisconsin, county and tribal child support agencies provide most case management services. Services include:

  • Finding a missing parent (locating)
  • Establishing legal fatherhood (paternity)
  • Asking the court to order child & medical support
  • Monitoring & enforcing support orders
  • Working with employers to withhold support from paying parents' income
  • Answering your questions about your case and the child support program
  • Providing help for reviewing or changing a support order for a possible increase or decrease
  • Offering payment plans for parents who get behind in their support
  • Providing privacy protection if the release of your address, telephone number, employer, or other location information would put you at risk
  • Providing interpreters for and translations of child support information at no cost
  • Helping parents when the other parent live in another state, country, or on Tribal Lands

Services do not include custody and placement services. Child support has no authority or responsibility to enforce custody and placement orders. Only the court has the authority and responsibility for these issues.
