Information for Parents & Guardians Getting (or Wanting to Get) Support

New! Watch a video about receiving child support

The Wisconsin Child Support Program can help you if you apply for case management (child support) services. (Parents receiving certain public assistance automatically get child support services, and do not have to apply for services. See Child Support & Aid/Benefit Programs.)

Please keep in contact with your child support agency if you get case management services (or your court if you only get financial management services.)

Report changes in your mailing address to your child support agency (or to the court, if you only get financial management services) within 10 days. See the Updating Name, Address, Phone Number or Employment Information page.

Report any new information about the other parent that might help with your case. You might learn information about the other parent’s address and job changes before the child support agency.

Make sure you attend all scheduled court hearings. Courts may make a decision whether or not you attend the hearing. In many cases, you may be able to attend a hearing by phone (if you don't live near-by). See information about child support attorneys.
