New Debit Card Fees

New fees for Chase Visa debit card

Starting May 8, 2009, Chase Bank will charge additional debit card fees:

$1.00 fee if a transaction is denied more than two times a month due to insufficient balance available on the card. You get 2 free denials each month, but will be charged $1.00 each additional denial in a month.
An example of a denial - you have $75 on your debit card account. The items you want to buy are $80. This purchase will be denied.
$0.75 fee each month if you request to have paper account statements mailed to you (statements will no longer be sent automatically)
$5.00 fee for using your Visa card to get cash at any bank, including Chase banks, more than one time a month. You get 1 free cash withdrawal each month, but will be charged $5.00 for each additional withdrawal in a month. Banks may also charge an addition fee.

Call the number on the back of your card (1-866- 817-0761) free of charge 24 hours/day everyday to:

check your current card balance and recent account activity before using your card
ask Chase for a free 2-month transaction history rather than asking for a monthly paper statement at $0.75 each -- To speak reach a person quickly, do not enter your card number when asked. Stay on the line until you hear the prompt for a lost or stolen card, then follow the lost or stolen card instructions.

Pay inside at the gas station. Gas stations may put a hold (up to $75) on your funds whenever a debit card is used at the pump.
Use Chase ATMs or AllPoint ATMs for unlimited free cash withdrawals
Use Chase ATMs for unlimited free balance inquiries.
Log on to myaccountchase.com to view your account statements and balances on line
Receive cash back at no charge when you make a purchase using your debit card

Remember that you can buy a money order at any US Postal Service office using your debit card for a small fee

Switch to Direct Deposit - have your child support automatically deposited into your own checking account or savings account.
