AFCARS Reporting: Troubleshooting Guide for Managers, Supervisors and Workers

It is likely that a worker and his or her supervisor will need assistance with the AFCARS Screens for a variety of reasons. In order to best assist all workers and supervisors and to understand concerns related to the AFCARS Exception Screen and Tickler Notices, please use the following process for addressing questions and concerns.

Understanding AFCARS and State AFCARS Reporting Requirements.

If the worker has questions about the AFCARS data elements or AFCARS reporting requirements, he or she should discuss these questions with their supervisor or program manager. Additional information on federal AFCARS reporting requirements can be obtained from the Children’s Bureau at the following website:

http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb/systems/afcars/resources.htm

If an agency supervisor or program manager needs additional information to address worker questions or concern on this matter, the supervisor or program manager may contact the following persons

or via e-mail at Michelle.Rawlings@wi.gov

Understanding How to Use the AFCARS Exception Screen

If a worker has questions on how to use the AFCARS Exception Screen, the worker should review the information contained in this memo. If, after further review of the memo, the worker continues to have questions regarding how to use the exception screen, he or she should discuss the questions with his or her supervisor or program manager

If an agency supervisor or program manager needs additional information to address worker questions or concern on this matter, the supervisor or program manager may contact the eWiSACWIS Help Desk as described below. In order to make the best use of limited Help Desk resources, it is critical that a worker and his or her supervisor fully review the AFCARS User Guides in advance of calling the Help Desk for assistance on how to use the exception screen.

Experiencing Problems with the AFCARS Exception Screen or Tickler Notices

If after reviewing the instruction memo and/or discussing questions with his or her supervisor, the worker is not able to address questions or concerns regarding the AFCARS Exception Screen or Tickler Notices, he or she should contact the eWiSACWIS Help Desk at (608) 267-7775 or toll-free (866) 335-2180.
