CPS Standards

The following area provides links to the current CPS Standards.  These Standards provide county agencies with more specific direction in conducting child abuse and neglect investigations than is offered by the statute alone.  The intent is to enhance statewide consistency and good practice in intervening in instances of child maltreatment.  Since these are currently undergoing the PEP process more Standards will be posted as they are finalized.

DCF Informational Memo Index

Informational (Info) Memos provide guidance and information for child welfare agencies.  Info memos are created by DCFS and aim to assist agencies or provide information to help guide their practice decisions.

These memos are available on a listserv. The listserv is free, but does require an active e-mail address.

DSP Numbered Memos Index

Numbered memos are policies written by the Division of Safety and Permanency (DSP) within the Department of Children and Families.  These memos create or explain requirements for child welfare agencies.  Agencies must follow instruction or interpretations explained in these memos.  Numbered and Informational memos often explain things written in administrative rules, such as explaining exceptions to requirements in an administrative rule.
